If a vast stretch of golden sandy beach is your thing, make your way to Saunton Sands just four miles west of Ash Barton. Lovely for a stroll in the sunshine, it’s also pretty perfect on a windy too. No wonder it’s known for some of the best surf in the country and a favourite with surfers, longboarders, and kitesufers. It’s worth hanging around for the beautiful sunsets over Lundy Island too.

Saunton Sands has a musical connection as well. It was used by rock band Pink Floyd to shoot their A Momentary Lapse of Reason album cover, while pop star Robbie Williams made his epic Angel video here. Altogether – ‘and through it all…’
