Autumn Weddings in Devon
Autumn is a beautiful season to get married at Ash Barton. The leaves on the trees turn orange and red and the days are pleasantly mild. But by the end of October and into November there will be a real chill in the air, so it’s best to take the ceremony and celebrations indoors.
The old chapel is perfect for an autumn wedding. It’s warm and intimate, and the sparkly fairy lights create a gorgeous atmosphere. Or you might want to choose the threshing barn. Cover the hay bales with furry throws for a cosy, rustic vibe.
How to style your autumn wedding
When it comes to styling an autumn wedding, you can have a lot of fun with your colour theme, decorations, and food and drink. Opt for traditional warm colours like russet, burnt orange and honey for your bridesmaids’ dresses, decorations and bouquets. Many flowers are still available at this time of the year, but mix them up with leaves, berries and even pumpkins for a really autumnal feel.
What to serve at an autumn wedding
During the autumnal months, a hearty wedding breakfast with local seasonal foods is the way to go. Start with a delicious butternut squash, followed by some kind of pie such as smoked chicken or venison. Then finish with something sweet and delicious such as a ginger and treacle steamed pudding.
And as it’s near bonfire night, why not gather your guests around the fire pit, roast marshmallows, serve a hot chocolate (or something stronger) and finish your wedding day celebrations with fireworks and sparklers.
