If you’re looking for a big barn wedding venue in Devon, with enough seating for up to 200, you have two to choose from at Ash Barton: our big party barn and the threshing barn.
Our fairy-tale barns have been used for all kinds of Devon barn weddings: from wedding ceremonies to formal sit down wedding breakfasts to more laid-back gatherings. Couples often get married in the old chapel or threshing barn and then head over to the big party barn for the food and dancing. Or opt to get married in the big party barn itself. But what kind of barn wedding you have is completely up to you.
Decorating the barn for your wedding
You can decorate the barns however you like. We’ve had bunting, balloons, pompoms and even umbrellas, as well as bright lights, fairy lights and candle light.
Our threshing barn has haybales for seating. While over in the big party barn, you can choose round tables or trestle tables (they’re free to use) and then just decorate them to fit your barn wedding theme. Hessian covered tables with flowers picked from our wildflower meadow and popped into jam jars always look pretty. Or go full glam with pink lights, feathers and disco balls. We're unlike any other barn wedding venues in Devon. You're free to do whatever you want.
Food and drink at your barn wedding
As well as the kitchen in the main house, the barn also has a large kitchen area with catering fridges and plenty of space to prepare something mouth-wateringly delicious. You can go for something traditional like a three-course wedding breakfast. Or something much more informal like sharing platters, a barbecue or even a hog roast.
Let’s get this barn wedding party started
And once the eating is over, it’s time for the partying to start. But just because it’s a barn wedding, don’t feel you have to have some kind of barn dance to celebrate. We’ve had 70s discos, rock and roll bands, and soul singers all perform at Ash Barton.
There’s a stage for a DJ or live band and plenty of dance floor space to strut your stuff. Plus, there’s a bar in the barn already set up. All you have to do is stock it.
