Dog Friendly Holidays in North Devon

If you don’t want to be parted from your furry friends while you have a few days away, feel free to bring them along with you. The Ash Barton estate is the ideal place for a dog friendly holiday in North Devon, as we have room for up to six dogs, as well as our very own Jack Russell Alfy, the epic ratter. 

During the day your pooches can explore our 25 acres of woodland, fields, gardens, wildflower meadows and lakes. And at night they get to sleep in our warm, dry kennels, which they all love. 

Walkies on the beach

North Devon is generally a pet friendly area. And there’s nothing dogs like to do more than splash around in the sea. Saunton Sands, with its huge expanse of beach, welcomes dogs all year round. As does Westward Ho! and Woolacombe beaches. Pretty Croyde lets you take your dog on the beach from September until the end of April. Just remember to check local signs.

Further afield, you’re more than welcome to explore the national parks of Exmoor and Dartmoor with your dog. It’s not essential to keep your pooch on a lead but it’s recommended, as during your walk you’re likely to come across sheep, cattle, ponies and horses. During the nesting season from March until July, it’s important to keep your dog on a short lead, so eggs and young chicks are not disturbed.

And you’ll be pleased to know, there are plenty of pet friendly eateries and watering holes in North Devon too. The London Inn in Braunton and the Thatched Inn in Bideford are happy to have dogs in the bar and in the beer garden. While the Boston Tea Party in Barnstaple, has plenty of seating inside and outside and dogs are welcome at all times.
