The Most Popular Locations to Hold your Ash Barton Wedding Ceremony

Advice    23.02.2022

Did you know there are now 14 locations where you can hold your wedding ceremony at Ash Barton?

Fancy a wedding in the swimming pool? No problem. Or even in the secret garden? Lovely. Or how about the dining room or on the west porch? Or perhaps you want to hold your ceremony in the threshing barn. It's the ideal location if you want to arrive at your wedding by horse. No, we’re not even kidding.

Take a look at the map to see where they all are.

But there are certain locations on the Ash Barton Estate that couples opt for time and time again. So here’s our guide to our most popular wedding spots.

The wildflower meadow

If you love the thought of being married in the middle of the great outdoors surrounded by flowers, our five acre wildflower meadow is the perfect choice. At the centre of the meadow is the pagoda, and you can decorate this however you like with flowers, ribbons or even pom poms. With the manor house in the background, guests sit in a semicircle on hay bales, and we have plenty you can borrow.

But the highlight has to be the aisle. It’s one of the longest aisles in the UK and has festoon lights lighting your way. Which means the wildflower meadow makes a stunning backdrop for your photos as the sun goes down and the lights come on.

The walled garden

Our pretty walled garden with its gently sloping lawn, is a lovely location to hold your ceremony during the summer months.

Couples either get married on the flagstone path at the top of the garden and right in front of the manor house. Or in the garden itself under a tree. Guests sit on hay bales or on garden furniture but it’s completely up to you how you organise the space. You can decorate it how you like too with balloons, lanterns and even pictures and ribbons in the trees. And our unusual modern art sculpture seats always make for a good photograph.

So where’s the aisle? Brides can arrive through the main entrance and straight into the walled garden. But if you’d prefer a longer aisle, walk through the gates at the bottom of the garden and then up towards the house.

Under the old oak tree

Overlooking the lakes and the wildflower meadow, our lovely old oak tree is a beautiful spot to get married. Decorate the antique pergola however you like with flowers or ribbons. And you can even decorate the old oak tree too. There are pontoon lights all round it so it’s really pretty at dusk. But couples often use ribbons and streamers, as well as family pictures in frames.

Benches and hay bales are available for your guests to sit on around the oak tree. And because the bank gently slopes up, everyone has a good view of the ceremony.

So where’s the aisle? Brides usually walk across the walled garden, down the path past the wood store and towards the lake. And you can decorate this path too. Brightly coloured festival flags or bunting always looks fun.

The courtyard

The courtyard sits between the manor house, the old chapel and the dovecote. And with its cobble stones and fairy lights it's a magical place to hold your wedding ceremony.

You can organise the courtyard however you like. But most of our couples get married under the dovecote with guests seated behind them on hay bales. All you have to do is cover them with colourful throws and string up pretty bunting and you’re good to go. The dovecote is an ideal location for your musicians too, or to lay out pre or post ceremony nibbles and drinks. There’s also a bench swing which is great for photos.

So where’s the aisle? Brides usually make their grand entrance by coming out through the main entrance of the house, walking along the flagstone path in the walled garden and turning left into the courtyard.

The old chapel

And finally, our most popular indoor location, and in some ways the most traditional one, is the old chapel. Situated alongside the courtyard and close to the big party barn, the old chapel is an absolute charmer. Wooden seats are available to seat up to 100 of your closest friends and family and there’s plenty of standing room too. And you can decorate the chapel however you like. We’ve seen flower arches, feather arrangements, bunting and candles.

The old chapel is cosy during the winter months thanks to warm air blowers and cool and comfortable during the summer months. And of course, this chapel has its very own aisle.
