Advice    13.09.2022

Saturdays are still the most popular days for a wedding. But if you’re looking for ways to stretch your wedding budget, choosing to get married midweek is an option you might want to consider. But, of course, cost isn’t the only reason to exchange your vows on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

Here’s our list of why you should plump for a midweek wedding.

Save money on your venue

Venues for Friday and Saturday weddings are at a premium, so hiring a wedding venue at the weekend can be costly. But most wedding venues reduce the fee significantly for midweek weddings.

And with venues getting booked up quickly for weekend weddings, chances are you’ll have more dates to choose from if you opt for a wedding during the week instead. That’s important if you’re planning a wedding at short notice or rearranging a postponed wedding.

Reduce your wedding guest list

With work and school commitments, not everyone will be able to get time off attend your midweek wedding. But that may be a good thing if you’re trying to reduce guest numbers. If there are family and friends you really want at your wedding, remember to send a Save the Date card about six months before the big day or as soon as you’ve booked the venue.

Save money for your guests too

For those guests that can take time out to attend your wedding, a weekday wedding will cost less too. For guests staying over, room rates for local hotels and B&Bs will be lower during the week. And public transport will cheaper and less busy too.

Enjoy a more intimate wedding day

With fewer guests, you’ll have a more intimate and laid back wedding. They’ll be time to chat to all your guests and the whole day will feel more relaxed.

Book the suppliers you want

Good photographers, catering companies, florists, make-up artists and hair stylists are in high demand. That means they’re booked out months (sometimes years!) in advance for weekend weddings. By choosing a midweek wedding your preferred suppliers are likely to have greater availability. And like your wedding venue, they’re likely to give a reduced rate for a weekday wedding too.

Have the timings you want

Like anyone else, registers get booked up quickly for weekend weddings during the summer months. You may have the venue booked but discover you can’t get married at the time you want, and end up having to rearrange proceedings in order to have your ceremony earlier or later in the day.

Registrars are more available midweek, so you can choose what time you want to get married and enjoy the rest of the day exactly as you planned.

Choose a special day

Being open to the idea of a midweek wedding, means you can choose a day that has a special meaning to you such as the anniversary of the first time you met or the day of the proposal. Or you might opt to share your wedding day with a parent or grandparent’s special birthday. And if that falls on a weekday, it’s the perfect excuse to book yourself a midweek wedding.
