Old Chapel Springtime Wedding for Liz and Andi

Interviews    03.01.2024

Congratulations to Liz and Andi who tied the knot at Ash Barton at the end of May in glorious spring sunshine. They were married in an intimate ceremony in the old chapel, which was followed by drinks and live music in the walled garden and a wedding breakfast in the big party barn. Many congratulations to you both.

On the day Co-ordinator: Leilah from Unity Event Design

“Leilah was an absolute pleasure to work with from start to finish. I have no idea how we would have got the day to run so smoothly without her there, but I do know if she hadn't been there I would not have had such an amazing day. She takes everything in her stride and sorts out problems before you even know they're there. She has great knowledge of the venue so was able to answer questions and give suggestions in the lead up too.”

Photographer: Ivyhouse Photography

“Jade was so helpful and responsive in the run up to the weekend then on the wedding day she made everyone feel so comfortable and got shots that we will treasure forever. Very friendly and professional. Lots of comments from guests about what a great find she was, and I 100% agree. Jade delivered sneak peeks the next morning (but wifi/phone signal at AB wasn't strong enough to open them so you may need to wait until your journey home!) and delivered our full gallery so very quickly.

Celebrant: Gem of a Wedding

“Gem wrote and delivered a beautiful ceremony for us. She is a kind, supportive and thoughtful person, and I'm so glad we chose her to be our celebrant. Gem was always ready to help in the run up to the weekend too.”

Hair: Carly Hanson Hairdressing

“My hair never holds a style but Carly managed it! She was lovely to have around the morning of the wedding too - calm and chatty and just a pleasure to have there! We were all a bit clueless with our requests but Carly managed to figure out the perfect style for us all!”

Make up: Beauty by Cathy

“I don’t really wear a lot of make-up and so wanted someone who could do a natural look. Cathy was wonderful. I was nervous to have my make-up done and end up with too much on my face, but Cathy got it right and really listened to what I asked.”

Wedding Breakfast: Graze & S'more

“Katie and her team provided grazing boards and additional hot items for our wedding breakfast. 17 large boards and three smaller ones for the top table. They catered separately for the gluten free guests too.  It was a little unconventional for a wedding breakfast perhaps, but Katie and her team provided a wonderful, filling meal that our guests raved about. Everyone was well fed, and said it was nice to be able to choose what they wanted and not feel like they were wasting food (especially those with kids!). Katie clearly loves what she does and it shows in the service that she delivers.”

Gin/Vodka: HawkinsDistillery

“Not local, but incredible gin and vodka. We used them for the post-ceremony cocktails and also stocked the bar with on Saturday. We were told by many many guests that this was the best gin they'd ever tasted (and I know these guests have tried a lot of gin!!).

Evening food: Baldy's Pies

“Again not local, but without doubt the best pies we've ever tasted. They are located in Wigan, we had a family member bring them down. They bent over backwards to ensure we could safely transport them, sourcing insulated packaging for us and taking any hassle out of the process for us.”

Band: The California Calling

“These guys were great and really got the dancefloor going!”

Singers: Livvy Nicole Music and Elshay Music @livvynicolemusic and @elshaymusic

“Livvy and Samir sung in the walled garden for us and they got the vibe completely right for the day. Beautiful voices and made sure in advance that we were happy with their set list and learned song requests from us too.”

Hog Roast / Barbecue meat: Ivan Clarke Catering Butcher

“These guys were so great to work with! They provided a hog roast on the Friday, delivered it, and made sure we had everything we needed to manage the roast on our own. They also provided bacon and baps for Saturday morning (probably the best bacon I have EVER tasted) and also provided all of our barbecue meat for the Sunday. All at a really reasonable price too. They were fantastic to work with and made the whole process very easy. I highly recommend using them for any meat needed for your stay.

Cakes: Tess' Brilliant Bakes

Oxfordshire based. We had a friend collect these from their cafe in Banbury, and used them for dessert (Katie at Graze & S'more served them for us.)

Flowers: Sweetpeas & Sunflowers

“Harriet has a local flower farm and provided five DIY buckets of the most beautiful fresh flowers. The five buckets were more than enough for 1 x bridal bouquet, 2 x bridesmaid bouquets, eight buttonholes, decorating the chapel, small vase on every table (17) and several vases on the top table. Harriet delivered the flowers on the Friday along with beautiful gift bouquets for the mums. If you like wildflowers, and want local and seasonal flowers for your wedding, Harriet is the woman to talk to!”

Glamping tents: Unity Event Design

“We had 33 bell tents and they all looked beautiful. Leilah, Nick and their team put them up on a scorching hot day while smiling throughout, and paid attention to every detail for our guests to have a comfortable stay.”

Confetti: Flutter Darlings

“I don’t know if it will still work but I used discount code "georginarose" when ordering online. Makes for the best confetti photos!!”

“Ash Barton was everything we had hoped for and more, and Henry was wonderful to work with - you would never knew he was there unless you need him, and then he was right on hand!”
