How to Bring Colour into Your Wedding Day

Advice    22.08.2023

If bright colours are your thing in your everyday life, don’t feel you have to go all pale peachy pink on you wedding day. There are lots of ways to introduce colour into you wedding day whether that’s a pop of colour or a full-on festival vibe. Here are just some of them:

With a unique wedding dress

If you still want to get married in traditional white but like the idea of colour too, an ombre or two-tone wedding dress is the way to go. Keep it simple for the top but opt for an eye-catching dip dye at the bottom. And use this colour as a theme for your wedding.

Bright pinks, oranges and yellows are all gloriously colourful choices for your bridesmaids and suit all complexions. Have everyone in the same colour. Or opt for a rainbow palette of bright colours.

With your bouquet

Your wedding flowers, whether they’re in your bouquet or in your hair, are  an opportunity to pack on the colour. Bougainvillea, garden and tea roses, ranunculus, peonies and gerberas all come in array of colours, including hot pinks, bright corals, sunshine yellows and tropical reds.

We’re seeing more and more grooms opt for colour when it comes to their suits. But even if they want to play it safe with grey or navy, a boutonniere, a bright pocket square or snazzy tie are all ways to introduce a pop of colour into the proceedings.

Using colourful decorations

There’s no easier way to introduce lots of colour into your wedding than with decorations. From stringing up colourful homemade bunting and streamers to decorating your tables with bright tablecloths, napkins and multicoloured candles, your decs are an opportunity to have as much fun with colour as possible.

If you want every wedding photograph to be joyful and bursting with colour, make your guests do all the hard work. On your invitations include a dress code, and ask your friends and family to dress in their brightest threads.

With a unique wedding cake

Forget traditional white and have a little fun with your wedding cake. Decorate it in colourful flowers, fruits and feathers. Or be bold and go with a colour for your icing like yellow, pink or blue.

By using signs

Throughout the day your guestswill need to be told the order of the day or where to sit. Whatever you say, say it with colour. Or for an absolute blast of colour, say it in neon.

With your cocktails

Who doesn’t love a colourful cocktail at a wedding on a sunny afternoon? Pieces of fruit, flavoured syrups and edible floral garnishes all add colour.  As do colourful (paper) drinking straws.

Using confetti

For a super informal photograph, walking through a waterfall of confetti is an absolute must.  Choose multicoloured biodegradable confetti and get drenched in colour.

And having smoke flares

Smoke flares are hugely popular at the moment and add a dash of and glamour to your photographs. Choose flares in one colour to complement the theme of your wedding. Or for maximum fun, go all out and have a full rainbow of hues.
