Chloe and Ben Enjoy a Four Day 'Malfest' Wedding Celebration
Interviews 31.10.2022
Chloe and Ben had their stylish wildflower meadow wedding back in March and enjoyed four days of celebration in glorious sunshine complete with amazing food and music, and they’re very own ‘Malfest’. Congratulations to you both.
“We genuinely don't even know where to start with how amazing our whole Ash Barton experience was. From first contact with Simon and then choosing our amazing suppliers it was an absolute joy. On our initial invites we told our friends and family that Ash Barton had a magic in the air that can't be explained, only experienced and how right we were.
“We arrived on site on Thursday 24th March and the party didn't stop until Monday 28th. Our wedding weekend was a festival celebrating all of the things that we love: food, drink, music, love, family and friends."

Tents: Native Bell Tents
“A gorgeous set up and individual pieces on each tent.”
Wedding co-ordination and styling: Best Day Ever
“We would not have been able to pull off such an extravaganza without Katie and her team, from setting up through to the smooth running of the day. We told her what kind of ideas we had, and she ran with them and brought them to life. She sees things before you do and knows Ash Barton like the back of her hand. Worth every single penny.
Wedding Catering: Latitudes Catering
“We first met Lara and Chris in October 2020 when we had a tasting and we didn't need to look any further. What a talent Lara has. We had canapés, middle Eastern mezze and hot dogs and churros in the evening. It went down an absolute storm, our guests loved it all. From initial contact with Lara and Chris right down the leaving Ash Barton last Monday they took us under their wing and treated us like family."
Friday night catering: Astridges Catering
“Our Friday night hog roast is the nicest hog roast you will ever eat. The crackling was absolutely spot on and Paul was so helpful and just really nice to deal with and have around.”
Thursday night food: Pot luck
“We also had a few friends and family cook for the Thursday evening which worked really well. We met in the kitchen and feasted on what people had brought: lasagne, hotpots, curry etc. An amazing way to kick off the festivities and got everybody in the social spirit."
Cheese: South West Cheese
“Amazing local cheeses went down a treat after our dessert.”
Scones: East West Bakery
“We had Devonshire scones delivered on Friday and a mix of plain and fruit. Our guests loved the little local touches like this.”
Ice cream: Hockings
“Just try it. SO nice.”
Wedding cake: Neighbourhood Bakes
“We’re lucky to have Helena as a friend who brought the cake with her. Not so helpful for Devon weddings but if you know anyone in the London/Hitchin area who is looking then she’s your girl!”
Drinks: GT Ales, Green Man Cider and Majestic
“We had real ales from Gary at GT Ales. Such a nice guy and top quality ale kegs delivered to the venue. We had two IPA and an Amber keg and loved them all. Pius local cider from Green man Cider. So tasty and easy to drink!
“Glen from Majestic sorted our wedding day wine. He knows his stuff and helped us choose some great wines for serving with our meal and the drinks reception.
Bar: Flybar
“They did a wedding evening pay bar, and a massive selection of drinks at normal prices which is always a bonus at a wedding.”
Thursday night music: Lucy Harvey Sax
“We had hen and stag parties on the Thursday and Lucy played Sax for us. It went down so well with our guests.”
Friday night music: The Stowes
“We had Friday night party in the threshing barn. A Cornish folk band got the party going,. Our guests loved it and the band had us dancing and foot stomping all night.”
Acoustic set: Yazzy Chamberlain
"Yazzy performed at the drinks reception and a background acoustic set during the meal. A voice of an angel! So talented"
Wedding night band: Soulcraft
“Our guests did not stop dancing from the second they started playing right until the end. They knew how to catch the vibe and kept the party going. Loved them!"
“Thank you to Simon for sharing Ash Barton. And a big thank you to Henry and Steve for being on hand all weekend to make sure everything was done, and everyone was happy.”
