15 Fun and Quirky Wedding Ideas to Wow Your Guests
Advice 27.04.2023
Looking for ways to inject a little fun into your wedding day celebrations? Here are 15 ways to wow your guests and make your day unique.
Go crazy with your cake topper
Skip the traditional bride and groom topper and have a little fun. If you go with figures make them really personal to you. Or opt for fruit, flowers or a fun message instead.
Get creative with your table decorations
Fresh flowers always look pretty on the table. But if you want to delight your guests, have tall candles, a vase of fairly lights, a collection of plants, succulents, potted trees or fruits, or a group of objects that represent your favourite movies, books or TV shows.
Create an eclectic menu
You may want to serve dishes that reference the places you’ve visited. Or maybe you want a range of dishes that are a blend of your different cultures. Or perhaps you just want to have your favourite foods. Let your caterers know early on in the process and let them create a menu that’s personal to you.
Let your guests serve
Get everyone chatting around the table by serving a family-style meal and having one of your guests serve the food. This is the perfect option if you’re looking for a more fun and informal wedding breakfast.
Customise your cocktails
Have your bar team create a cocktail (or two) that has special meaning to you as a couple. Maybe Pisco Sours in celebration of a trip to Peru in Peru or Bellini for Venice. Or ask the mixologist to create a drink especially for you based on your favourite alcohol such as Champagne or gin.
Be adventurous with table names
Name each table after your favourite holiday destinations round the world, or the places that mean the most to you, like a restaurant, venue or pub. You can go one step further and include a picture and a line or two as to why this place means so much.
Add interesting items to your bouquet
For the personal touch, add unusual items to your bouquet such as feathers, pompoms, paper flowers or dried flowers. Or include a unique memento, such as a tiny photograph of a loved one.
Say something in neon
There’s nothing quite like a bright neon sign to set the mood. Have a slogan, your names or perhaps a personalised wedding hashtag that your guests can use on their socials to share pics of your big day.
Have a Prosecco wall
Guests always enjoy a glass of fizz and a few nibbles as they arrive, or when they’re milling around during the photographs. Ramp up the glamour and opt for an Insta-friendly help-yourself Prosecco wall.
Add a doughnut wall too
And talking of walls. Who doesn’t love a freshly made doughnut? Yes, you could pile them high on a plate. But let’s be honest – it’s way more fun to display them on a doughnut wall.
Dish up sweets and ice cream
Include bowls of sweets alongside your desserts or have a sweet filled grazing platter for each table. And if you still need more sugar, add an ice cream barrow into the proceedings too.
Play garden games
Keeping little ones occupied at a wedding can be a challenge. Hire in a load of super-sized garden games to keep them entertained. Their parents can sit back and relax a bit and enjoy another glass or two from the Prosecco wall.
Set up a photo booth
A photo booth is always fun, especially if props are involved and the drinks has been flowing for a while. You can also use the photos taken as individual thank you cards for your guests.
Accept song requests
When your guests RSVP, ask them to choose a couple of their favourite songs that your band or DJ can play at the reception. Or let guests request tracks throughout the night.
Go out with a bang
And finally. Hand out a bunch of sparklers and end the night with an incredible firework display and a chorus of oooohs and aaaahs.
