13 Gorgeous Tablescape Ideas
Advice 27.06.2023
Your table decorations are an opportunity for you to bring your wedding 'look' altogether in terms of colour and themes, and show off your creativity while you’re at it.
Your guests will spend a significant amount of time seated at the table, enjoying a sumptuous wedding breakfast and listening to the speeches. So here are 13 ways to create a beautiful tablescape at your wedding.
Have handpicked spring flowers
For a pretty and informal look, little bunches of wild flowers in bud vases always works well. Pick up second vases cheaply at the local charity shop or boot sale or upcycle milk bottles, jam jars or bottles.
Be inspired by the season
Getting married during the autumn or winter months gives you the perfect excuse to incorporate seasonal colours and textures into your tablescape. Include pine cones, ivy and berries for a Christmas feel and tiny pumpkins and oranges and reds for an autumn feel.
Opt for different height candles
Candles always look warm and welcoming. For a contemporary look mix your candle heights and types and use pillar candles and taper candles alongside tea lights and votive candles in glass jars. If you don’t want to go down the naked flam route, opt for LED lights instead.
Pick white and greenery
White and green are classic wedding colours. So mix fresh greenery white flowers with white candles and crockery for a simple and elegant tablescape.
Use natural materials
Natural materials such as hessian and wood help add texture and interest abd texture to your table. Choose a hessian runner or tablecloth and use wood or bamboo place settings for a natural, rustic look.
Go bold with gold
Make a statement with gold plates and cutlery. This works best with black or bold colurs, so go all out and ramp up the glamour with bright napkins and runners.
Choose dried florals
Dried flowers and grasses are an easy way to bring colour and interest to your table and create a contemporary look. After the wedding, the flowers can be gathered up and repurposed to create a display for your home.
Go tropical
Bring beach vibes and holiday memories to the table and introduce tropical accents in your decorations. Banana leaves and brightly coloured flowers are guaranteed to make an impact.
Personalise place settings
A handwritten card place setting is a classic option. But for something a little different, opt for a wooden place name if you’re having a rustic theme and give your guests a little memento to take home. Or have your guests’ names written directly on to a paper runner.
Opt for fairy lights
Fairy lights inside bottles or jars always look celebratory and fun and create a gorgeous ambience to the room as the lights go down.
Choose colour
A patterned napkin or runner is the easiest way to introduce a pop of colour into the proceedings. Choose brightly coloured mismatched napkins. Or go one step further with a bold and vibrant runner for the middle of the table.
Be dramatic
Create drama with tall candelabras, taper candles and stunning lighting. Just make sure the candelabras are tall enough so your guests can see round them and can chat easily during the wedding breakfast.
Have something theatrical
Or finally, go for something really theatrical and give guests something to talk about. Create a tablescape that nods to a favourite book or film or holiday destination.
