Devon Summer Holidays House

If you want a summer holiday that includes golden sandy beaches, beautiful blue skies, and bags of fresh air, as well as the most magical place to stay, head on down to Ash Barton this summer: it’s the perfect Devon summer holiday house.

What to do in North Devon this summer

Summer is a special time of the year in North Devon. There are literally miles of beaches to enjoy as well as stunning coastal walks and excellent surf. Either relax on the beach and catch a few rays (remember your sun lotion) or take part in a host of sporting activities including surfing, kayaking and horse riding.

Our favourite summer beaches include Saunton Sands, which has the longest tide in the country. Putsborough Sands, at the western end of Woolacombe Bay, which has an abundance of rock pools to explore. And quirky Croyde, which has some of the best surfing around and is a magnet for water sports enthusiasts.

If you fancy something a little more leisurely, there are a numerous museums and galleries to visit during the summer months. The Burton Art Gallery and Museum in Bideford has three exhibition spaces, a museum, a craft gallery, a shop, an education space and a café.

The North Devon Maritime Museum gives an insight into the region’s shipbuilding and seafaring history and is open from April to October. While in the Museum of British Surfing in Braunton, you’ll find a fantastic collection of surfing memorabilia through the years.

Summer holidays with kids

If you’re looking for a family day out that doesn’t include getting wet or sandy, you can’t beat a zoo or a theme park.

The Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park is home to a number of real exotic animals including wolves, sea lions, primates, penguins, wallabies, meerkats and African lions, as well as animatronic dinosaurs. And it’s all set in 28 acres of sub-tropical paradise. While the Milky Way Adventure Park in Bideford, has numerous rides and attractions including roller coasters and indoor adventure play.

And if you find yourself in Croyde at the end of the day, Croyde’s Ice Cream Parlour is a treat not be missed. We recommend the toffee fudge.

Summers at Ash Barton

Back at Ash Barton, lazy summer days can be spent wandering through the meadow and woodland, splashing around in the pool, relaxing on the patio enjoying a BBQ, or sitting round the fire pit as the late summer sun goes down. No wonder it’s known as the perfect summer holiday house in North Devon.

We have had an amazing weekend helping my sister celebrate her 40th birthday. The house is fantastic, plenty of room for our enormous family! Would love to come back again.
