Golf in North Devon

Whether you’re a keen golfer – or an enthusiastic beginner – strolling round one of North Devon’s golf courses on a sunny day has to be one of life’s small pleasures. And there are plenty of golf courses to choose from in this part of the world.   

Golfing in Saunton 

Ash Barton is only three miles away from the famous Saunton Golf Club, which has two Championship links courses and has been listed in Golf World and Golf Monthly magazines as one of the 100 Best Courses in the UK. There’s also a long practice ground, a short game area and a covered driving range too.

Playing golf in Ilfracombe

Or try the Ilfracombe Golf Club. It sits on top of the cliffs with fantastic views to Lundy Island, which means the course is testing in windy conditions. But you can reward yourself in the club house afterwards with an afternoon tea and homemade cake. Or something a little stronger if your round didn’t go to plan.

Putting in Portmore

Portmore Golf Park, just on the outside of Barnstaple, has two stunning golf courses including the 18 hole Barum course and 9 hole Lankey course. There’s also a 21 bay floodlit golf range as well as putting and chipping green facilities. 

Teeing off in Westward Ho!

Or enjoy a round or two at England’s oldest course, the Royal North Devon golf course at Westward Ho! It’s known as the St Andrews of the south and considered a course that every golfer must play. Visitors are welcome, and you can book your tee time through their website. They also do a good bacon bap.
